Portable Halogen Quartz Heater: Big Heat, Small Package
We built this little heater for one reason: to get serious heat where you need it, fast. It’s the kind of tool you grab when you need spot warmth, a quick pre-heat before a job, or a little extra comfort at home—without taking up a ton of space.
What it’s really about
Here’s the thing: it’s compact, but it throws a lot of heat. It runs at 2500W on a 230–240V line, so it heats up almost instantly and pulls around 10–11A. Because of that, it needs a dedicated circuit—give it proper fusing and thermal protection, and treat the wiring with respect. The tube is just 300mm long, which focuses the heat into a tight spot. That means you get high watt density without hauling around a giant heater.
Built to stay tough
Inside, the quartz envelope is paired with a halogen fill. That combo keeps the filament stable even when things get scorching, so it resists burnout and holds steady over time. The halogen cycle does something pretty neat: it redeposits evaporated tungsten back onto the filament. In plain terms, that helps the lamp last longer than a standard incandescent element. And the R7s bi-pin connector? It holds the lamp securely, carries the current cleanly, and uses ceramic insulation to keep the heat away from the socket.
How it feels to use
Turn it on, and the heat hits right away. There’s almost no waiting. If you’re swapping out an old heater, it drops right in where an R7s-mounted unit goes. It plays nicely in portable setups, workshops, and temporary spots where you just need warmth—now. But—and this matters—the heat is intense and focused. You’ll want controlled airflow and some shielding so nearby materials don’t get too hot. Use it with care, and it’ll do the job.
